Spirit Elite Cheerleading "Cheers for a Cure"

On Saturday, June 11, 2011, nearly 70,000 people converged on the streets of St. Louis, Missouri, to participate in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure. The St. Louis event has become one of the nation’s largest annual events fighting breast cancer. Among those in this massive “sea of pink” were members of Spirit Elite Cheerleading from St. Peters, Missouri.

Wearing their bright pink CHEER FOR A CURE t-shirts, the Spirit Elite Cheerleaders and their family members, walked along side survivors, and others walking in celebration, or memory, of those they know who have battled this devastating disease, helping to raise money for a great cause. At the end of the race they crossed the finish line carrying stunts, cheering and waving to those in the crowd.

While this was the third year that Spirit Elite members have participated in this event, it is not the only way they have shown their support for their community in the battle against cancer. In October 2010, Spirit Elite Cheerleading was awarded the THINK PINK Award at Jamfest Hallo Jam Competition in Evansville, Indiana, for raising and donating $1000 by selling pink hair strands in the weeks leading up to the event. Spirit Elite also participates in many other activities that support their community throughout the year.
